Facts............



There are about a billion bicycles in the world, twice as many as motorcars.

Almost 400 million bicycles are  in    China.

Every year some 50 million bicycles – and 20 million cars – are produced.

Di dalam dunia terdapat lebih kurang 1 bilion basikal, 2 kali ganda melebihi jumlah kereta.

Terdapat lebih 400 juta basikal terdapat di China

Setiap tahun sebanyak 50 juta basikal dihasilkan di seluruh dunia

Leonardo da Vinci pernah melukis lakaran seakan-akan sebuah basikal.

Kirkpatrick Macmillan bicycle

the Frenchman De Sivrac built the first bicycle-type vehicle in 1690. It was referred to as a hobbyhorse. However, it did not have pedals. Those were added in 1840 by a Scottish blacksmith, Kirkpatrick Macmillan, who is credited with inventing the real bicycle.


Frenchman De Sivra mencipta basikal pertama pada1690 ia berbentuk seekor kuda berekor tetapi tidak mempunyai pedal. (Basikal ini tidak boleh membelok)

Kirkpatrick Macmillan ( tukang besi Scotland ) telah menambah pedal pada rekaan Frenchman De Sivra dan mendapat gelaran pencipta sebenar basikal.




Air-filled tyres were used on bicycles before they were used on motorcars.

Tayar yang di isi angin telah digunakan terlebih dahulu pada basikal sebelum digunakan pada kereta.



The bicycle as we know it today – with two wheels of the same size – looks almost exactly the same as one from 1900.

Basikal pertama menggunakan roda yang sama besar depan dan belakang bermula pada tahun 1900



Sam Whittingham

The fastest human powered bike world record was set in Oct, 2002 at 81 mph (130km/h) by Sam Whittingham. Since the record was set, it is still remains unbroken.


Rekod manusia terlaju menggunakan basikal di dunia ialah Sam Whittingham degan kelajuan 130km/j pada Oktober 2002.
